NYAB’s 110 kV power line project for Tervakoski Oy has been completed
16.01.26NYAB has completed the construction contract for Tervakoski Oy’s new 110 kV power line, in which the new line replaced an old transmission line that had reached the end of its service life.
The approximately 6.4‑kilometre‑long power line was built from Fingrid’s Linnamäki substation to the Tervakoski paper mill. The new line enables the mill’s carbon‑neutral operations and ensures operational reliability far into the future. The contract also included a backup connection between Niittumäki and Tervakoski. Construction progressed according to the original schedule, and the final work phases were completed in December 2025.
“NYAB completed the project within the agreed schedule. The work carried out during the factory’s critical maintenance shutdown was particularly well timed, which enabled the mill to restart according to plan,” says Energy Manager Petri Malkamäki from Tervakoski Oy.
“The project was extremely interesting,” says Project Manager Tuomo Hannula. “The contract included building the new line, dismantling the old one, and carrying out several road crossings, including a highway and smaller roads. Working in an urban area brought its own challenges, and during the factory’s maintenance shutdown the final work phases occasionally made for long days. Despite this, we completed all stages within the agreed schedule. Cooperation with Tervakoski Oy and Rejlers Oy went very smoothly, and I would also like to thank the landowners.”
