NYAB secures contract for the 400 kV Munga substation in Västerås
14.07.26NYAB has signed a subcontracting agreement with the Croatian engineering company KONČAR for the construction of the new 400 kV Munga substation in Västerås. The contract, valued at more than SEK 50 million, covers earthworks and concrete works for the substation, which will be built as an entirely new facility on undeveloped land.
The Munga substation will play an important role in Svenska kraftnät’s extensive investment programme to strengthen the transmission grid in the Västerås region and increase capacity for future electricity transmission. The substation is expected to become a key hub in the development of the transmission connection between Munga and Bysingsberg.
NYAB will commence work in August 2026. The substation is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2028, while the majority of NYAB’s work is planned to be completed during 2027.
“The project demonstrates our ability to collaborate with international partners on large-scale transmission grid investments in the growing Nordic energy infrastructure market,” says Jakob Sahlander, Work Manager at NYAB.
