Construction of Mulby and Åminne streets and Grigor Auer Path to begin in Kurttila
07.09.26The contract for the construction of streets in the Mulby and Åminne detailed plan areas, as well as the Grigor Auer Path, commissioned by the City of Espoo’s Urban Environment and Infrastructure Centre, will begin in September 2026 in the Kurttila district of western Espoo, Finland. The project, valued at approximately €8.47 million, is scheduled for completion in summer 2028. NYAB will serve as the main contractor.
The contract includes the construction of streets, water supply and sewerage infrastructure, and pedestrian and cycling connections, as well as the construction of retaining walls and pile slabs. In addition, new terrain stairs will be built between Arpaonnenkuja and Koikorvenpolku. The works will be carried out mainly within street areas in the vicinity of live traffic, making temporary traffic arrangements a key aspect of the project throughout the construction period.
A significant part of the project is the construction of the new Grigor Auer path. This park route will connect to the street network in the Kaskimäki area in the north and to Lambronpolku in the south, improving walking and cycling connections in the area.
The construction works include tree removal, earthworks and rock excavation, utility trenching for water infrastructure, installation of steel sheet pile walls, protective ducting for various stakeholders, street and pathway lighting works, piling and pile slab construction, and column stabilisation. In addition, embankment and pavement structure fill works will be carried out, along with stone paving and asphalt surfacing of streets and pathways.
The project will utilise modern digital construction methods, including the Infrakit project management platform, digital information models and machine control systems. These tools will help ensure efficient information management, high-quality delivery and smooth collaboration between all project stakeholders.
