21.05.26

NYAB has been awarded a contract by the Swedish Transport Administration for earthworks and civil engineering works on the North Bothnia Line in Skellefteå municipality, on the section between Bureå and Södra Innervik. The contract has an order value of SEK 326 million (EUR 30 million). The works will commence immediately and are scheduled for completion in September 2030.

The contract includes construction of railway embankments and six bridges, as well as water management, noise mitigation measures, and construction and service roads. The assignment also comprises parts of the railway’s technical infrastructure, such as catenary foundations and ducting.

“We are pleased that NYAB has been entrusted to carry out another section of the North Bothnia Line. This is a project involving extensive earthworks and bridge construction, which is in line with our core competencies. The project places high demands on execution, and we look forward to delivering it in close cooperation with the Swedish Transport Administration,” says Mattias Broström, Business Area Manager, Infrastructure at NYAB.

The North Bothnia Line is a 270-kilometre new coastal railway between Umeå and Luleå, enabling faster, safer and more sustainable passenger and freight transport. The railway is being built as a single track for speeds of up to 250 km/h and is adapted for trains up to 750 metres in length, strengthening both regional development and Sweden’s long-term transport capacity.
