When Antti Hentilä began considering the next step in his career, he knew he wanted to move closer to practical implementation. Several years working on design projects had provided a strong foundation, but something was still missing.

“I was looking for the next step in my career, and NYAB stood out as an interesting company. I had worked for several years on design projects, but I wanted to move to the contractor side,” Antti explains.

The idea of following a project’s entire lifecycle from start to finish felt like a natural progression. Discussions with NYAB reinforced his sense that this was the right direction.

“Based on those discussions, NYAB’s way of working sparked my interest, and that’s the path I ended up taking.”

Currently, Antti is working on two Fingrid substation expansion projects. These projects are technically demanding and significant in scope, bringing both responsibility and variety to his role. Day-to-day work is diverse and requires strong overall project management skills.

His role covers project delivery from design onwards. In practice, this means preparing and monitoring schedules and budgets, coordinating procurement, and working closely with suppliers and subcontractors.

What makes the job particularly engaging is its variety. There is little room for routine, as each day brings new situations.

“No two days are the same, and it’s interesting to solve the practical challenges that come up along the way,” says Antti.

The tangible nature of the work is what makes it meaningful. The results are visible and concrete rather than abstract.

“It’s a great feeling to see that your own contribution genuinely helps projects move forward,” he adds.

At NYAB, Antti especially values the flat organisational structure and the practical, hands-on way of working. The opportunity to influence both his own work and project outcomes adds to the sense of purpose. The work community also plays an important role.

“Friendly colleagues make it a genuinely enjoyable place to work.”

Outside of work, Antti’s daily life is based in Tampere, where he lives with his family. However, his roots are in Halli, in Jämsä, and his home region remains important to him.

“I would take my guests to explore the nature and lakes in my home area, which there are plenty of,” he says.

In his free time, Antti relaxes through sports and fishing. Summers are spent playing football, while winters are dedicated to floorball. Family life remains central, with much of his time revolving around his children’s hobbies.

Antti Hentilä’s work at NYAB is defined by responsibility, variety, and tangible results. It offers the opportunity to be part of building something visible and meaningful, while continuously developing his own expertise through the projects he works on.
