NYAB has signed an agreement with Skarta Energy for the construction of a 20 MW (40 MWh) battery solution at the Utajärvi solar park. Work will begin immediately, and the project is expected to be completed by June 2026.

NYAB is currently engaged in the Utajärvi solar park project as the contracted partner for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the solar park, with work having commenced in late 2023. The new battery storage project represents a natural next step in this extensive collaboration.

“This is a great continuation of the Utajärvi solar park project, as we get to build a battery energy storage system in the area. We are pleased to utilize our solid expertise in battery solutions in a familiar environment and to continue our good cooperation with Skarta Energy,” say Pauli Lahti, Sales Manager of Power Network Construction at NYAB Finland, and Antti Keskinen, Head of Power Network Construction at NYAB Finland.

Utajärvi’s Isosuo solar park is a significant renewable energy project that will produce approximately 97 GWh of solar electricity once completed. The solar park will be built on a 140-hectare area, with 170,000 solar panels installed. The project also includes the construction of a substation and a 110 kV connection cable to the Utanen power plant. The park will be connected to the national grid according to a previously made connection agreement with Fingrid.
