NYAB has signed a contract with the Swedish Transport Administration for works within the national expansion programme Opto 2.0. The assignment covers the construction of new multiduct infrastructure along the Västeraspby–Långsele–Hoting section, spanning a total distance of approximately 168 kilometres. Production is scheduled to commence in April 2026 and is expected to be completed in August 2028.

The project forms part of the Swedish Transport Administration’s expansion program to enable the implementation of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) in Sweden.

“This assignment builds on the trust we have earned through previous Opto projects. With established working methods and an experienced project organisation, we are well positioned to continue delivering with a strong focus on quality, safety and efficiency,” says Anel Bajramovic, Work Manager Railway at NYAB.

Through this assignment, NYAB further strengthens its presence within the Swedish Transport Administration’s national Opto 2.0 programme. It is one in a series of projects within the programme and builds on the experience and working methods developed through NYAB’s previous Opto projects across the country.

Opto 2.0 is the Swedish Transport Administration’s national expansion programme for fibre and multiduct infrastructure and is a fundamental prerequisite for the introduction of the ERTMS signalling system in Sweden. The programme covers the entire national railway network and is a key component in the development of a robust, safe and long-term sustainable railway system.
