NYAB entrusted to expand double track in Dalarna
26.11.25NYAB has been commissioned to expand the double track between Avesta Krylbo and Dalslund in Dalarna. The project, valued at approximately SEK 85 million (EUR 7.7 million), will strengthen capacity on one of Sweden’s most important railway corridors and is part of the Swedish Transport Administration’s initiative for the Godstråket genom Bergslagen freight corridor.
The contract includes earthworks, drainage, ducting, electrical and telecom installations for the new track between Avesta Krylbo and the new Klintängarna operating point, located between Avesta Krylbo and Hökmora.
A significant investment for the region
By constructing a double track between Avesta Krylbo and Dalslund and carrying out switch replacements and improvements at the Krylbo yard, capacity and resilience will increase along one of Sweden’s most important freight routes. The investment will enable more trains per day and more efficient freight transport, benefiting both the business community and the climate across the region.
“We at NYAB are delighted to have been given the trust to work with the Swedish Transport Administration and to be part of building the double track between Avesta Krylbo and Dalslund. The project demonstrates our ability to continue delivering quality and contribute to a more robust infrastructure,” say NYAB’s site managers Anel Bajramovic and Jakob Sahlander.
The contract work is scheduled to be completed by November 2026.
The Bergslagen corridor is a key route for freight traffic between southern and northern Sweden. The single-track section between Storvik and Frövi is currently heavily congested. The new double track will improve capacity along the route and strengthening transport opportunities for businesses throughout the region.
