NYAB signs contract for works on Nockebybanan for Storstockholms Lokaltrafik
07.04.25NYAB has signed a contract for preparatory works for the demolition and reconstruction of the Bromma depot in Stockholm. The land will be handed over to the City of Stockholm, which plans to transform the area into urban quarters with housing, parks, and offices. A smaller part of the land will be used to build a new depot for the vehicles on the Nockebybanan. The contract value is 44.5 million SEK. The work will begin in April 2025, with completion in March 2026.
NYAB will demolish the existing workshop building and carry out ground and excavation works. The project also includes the installation of a switch connection from the subway’s turnaround track to an existing entry and exit track towards the Tvärbanan and Ulvsunda depot, as well as associated works for track substructure. Preparatory works include utility works, handling of existing cables, and temporary installations for electricity and heating to the adjacent storage hall.
“I am pleased that we have been entrusted by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik, SL, to demolish parts of the nearly 80-year-old Bromma depot in Alvik and rebuild the facility on the depot area. We win this project by delivering the best balance between price and quality, which is a testament to our long experience in complex railway projects,” says Anel Bajramovic, Railway Project Manager at NYAB.
