Sitema to design Herva-Nuojuankangas power line
Site: 400 kV Herva-Nuojuankangas transmission line
Customer: Fingrid Oyj
Project began: May 2022
Estimated end: early 2024
Project stage: planning
Project Manager: Janne Niemelä / Sitema Oy
Customer’s Project Manager: Antti Linna / Fingrid Oyj
Sitema Oy has been selected as the general design consultant for Fingrid’s 400kV Herva-Nuojuankangas power line. The power line is located in Northern Ostrobothnia. The project has started, and the general design is estimated to be completed by early 2024.
The amount of wind power in Finland will increase by about 1,000 megawatts per year in the next few years, and the grid connections currently under construction will not be enough to transfer the electricity generated to consumption areas in the south of Finland. As a result, Fingrid is planning a new 400 + 110 kilovolt transmission connection between Petäjäskoski and Nuojuankangas, which will increase electricity transmission capacity and significantly improve energy efficiency. The planned Herva-Nuojuankangas transmission line is part of this transmission connection. When completed, the total length of the power line will be 117 km.
“We are extremely pleased with the trust Fingrid has shown in us. This is a very significant project for Sitema, and we are eagerly looking forward to the design work, ”says Tuomas Maasalo, Managing Director of Sitema Oy.
