Meet Financial Specialist Gisella Vilmunen
15.08.24Gisella Vilmunen has followed NYAB’s strong growth for over 10 years. This growth has provided her with opportunities to strengthen her skills and take on diverse responsibilities within the finance team. After graduating from a commercial college, Gisella once considered switching careers and furthering her education to become a teacher, but after starting work at NYAB, she realized she was already in the right field.
What sparked your interest in NYAB?
“I got a job at what was then Andament Group Oy as a result of an unusual chain of events in 2012. At my previous job, I was in a position where I lacked the official qualifications and had to choose between becoming certified or leaving. Further education didn’t suit my life situation at the time, so I chose the latter. After making that decision, I looked out of my office window and noticed Andament’s office. First, I researched what kind of company it was, and then I walked across the street to introduce myself and inquire about about job opportunities. A couple of weeks later, I was contacted with a job offer. My proactivity and courage were rewarded. It was easy to start working here because our first conversation was very pleasant.”
What are your current responsibilities?
“I work in financial administration, with responsibility for the sub-ledger accounting of sales and purchase invoices, payment transactions, liquidity monitoring, and various financial administration tasks for NYAB Finland Oy. I also support production projects. My tasks are diverse, and my workdays are pleasantly varied.”
What do you value in NYAB’s operations?
“We have an amazing and professional team. The team spirit here is top-notch, and it’s a pleasure to come to work. Our team is a close-knit community of its own, but cooperation with the entire NYAB personnel is natural. It’s been interesting to be part of NYAB’s transformation from a small family business to an international publicly traded company over the past ten years. We’ve had eventful years behind us, and with the changes, new tasks have also emerged. We’ve developed our practices and models to match those of a large company, but at the same time, we’ve maintained an entrepreneurial spirit. Everyone takes responsibility for their tasks, but help is always available, and challenges are solved together.”
How do you spend your free time?
“I enjoy the outdoors. I like to go for walks and take trips up north. I spend time with my adult children’s families, and I get to be a grandma to three little ones. They live nearby, so it’s nice and easy to see them often.”
Where would you take your guests in Pyhäjoki?
“I appreciate the beautiful nature in Pyhäjoki. We have the sea, which offers stunning open views. A great experience for a guest could be a boat ride in the summer and a trip on the sea ice in winter, not forgetting the coffee during the outing.”
