Energy construction
NYAB’s focus is on implementing carbon neutral energy projects in cooperation with industrial and public bodies. There are exciting developments in wind and solar energy as well as new possibilities opening up around green hydrogen solutions.
Balance of Plant (BoP) construction refers to land improvement, foundations, and power network of the wind farm in a project-specifically defined scope. NYAB specialise in BoP projects and have been involved in the construction of more than 190 wind turbines.
In BoP projects, our experts take charge of the bigger picture, starting with design and soil research. We then move on to constructing the lifting zones and foundations, including challenging concrete casting. We also build the internal power network of the wind park, including cable installations, and connect it to the national grid. Moreover, we carry out any auxiliary work needed by the wind park, such as repair or construction of the road network. In addition to BoP projects, we are happy to respond to requests for tenders concerning smaller projects.
Infrastructure construction
NYAB companies have decades of experience in challenging road, railway, and bridge construction work. We build various traffic routes and the related zone construction efficiently, precisely and with a customer-oriented approach. The competence created by our extensive experience helps us organise and schedule work so that traffic can flow as efficiently and safely as possible throughout the project.
As bridge construction experts, we plan and complete any bridge work as a turnkey delivery, whether the project is for small or large bridge structures, on land or over waterways. In addition to bridges, culverts and tubular bridges for vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, we construct various types of concrete and steel covers, viaducts and ramps. In connection with bridge construction, we carry out all related auxiliary work, such as land use planning, asphalt work, railing, as well as barrier and lighting installations.
In addition to new bridges, railways, roads, streets and pedestrian and bicycle routes, we repair and improve existing traffic routes. We also maintain state and municipality infrastructure on long-term perennial contracts.
Industrial construction
NYAB’s strong competence and willingness to take innovative decisions facilitate our success in creating specialised industrial construction. This is supported by our investment in state-of-the-art equipment and hardware.
Each of the industrial facilities we construct for our clients are built according to our client’s needs. The client base for our these industrial facilities are as varied as: production and logistics companies, manufacturing workshops and operators within paper and mining industries. NYAB also take on the most challenging specialised construction projects, such as biopower and thermal power stations, water treatment plants, industrial halls and production facilities. In addition, we carry out specialised projects, such as house-moving with zero waste.
Our added value to specialised and industrial construction projects is, above all else, strong project management and competence in challenging groundwork and concrete work. We are constantly developing and optimising our processes and technology.

Project development
NYAB owns 40 percent of a joint venture that has been established with CapMan Nordic Infrastructure II fund. Skarta Energy Oy operates under the joint venture and has a fast-growing renewable energy project development portfolio. Skarta Energy’s project development is concentrated on solar projects that can be complemented with wind power and hydrogen solutions. Skarta Energy is developing some of the largest solar power projects in Finland, such as in Utajärvi where a disused peat bog spanning over 100 hectares is the sight of a new project. As well as Utajärvi there are also projects in the old mining districts of Hitura and Pyhäsalmi in Northern Ostrobothnia.
Skarta Energy has also designed the pioneering Near Energy concept for municipalities, cities and industry – the goal of which is to make carbon-neutral local electricity a reality. The Near Energy concept is based on cooperating with our customers in order to respond to the opportunities created by the shift in the energy market by offering locally produced electricity. In practice, Near Energy means competitively priced electricity produced with wind and/or solar power for local operators. For our clients, Near Energy offers locally produced, affordable energy while promoting their image and competitive strength. Near Energy also increases local competence and demand, establishes construction and maintenance jobs, as well as building a positive environment and injecting vitality to local communities.
