Skarta to build the foundations for EPV Energia’s wind farm in Närpiö
21.06.21Skarta will deliver the foundations of 17 wind turbines to EPV Tuulivoima Oy for a wind farm to be built in Norrskogen, Närpiö. In addition to the foundation works, the Skarta contract also includes excavation work, such as the construction of roads, storage and lifting fields.
Kari Tuominen, Managing Director of Skarta Energy, says that the aim is to complete most of the excavation work and foundations by the end of November. According to him, the construction of the foundations is a rather large construction project that requires about 2 million kilos of concrete reinforcement and 15,000 cubic metres of concrete. 13 kilometres of road routes will be built.
“We are happy that Skarta as a builder of clean technology can participate in the promotion of EPV Energy’s emission-free energy production. Skarta provides the project with long-term experience in wind power construction,” says Kari Tuominen.
EPV Tuulivoima Oy, a subsidiary of EPV Energia, is responsible for the construction of the wind farm and Vestas has been selected as the turbine supplier. Upon completion, the power of the wind farm will be 102 megawatts. The erecting of the power plants will begin in 2022, and the EPV Energia Group’s sixth industrial-scale wind farm is expected to be completed in 2023.
According to Frans Lisk, CEO of EBA Tuulivoima, by 2020, about 26% of EPV’s energy production came from wind power. The company, which invests heavily in new electricity, has invested more than EUR 500 million in wind power alone in recent years.
